- On a snowy day like today (about 20 inches of the white stuff here west of Boston), I like to imagine myself sitting at a ballpark on a warm summer evening, drinking a cold beer and watching a tight pitchers duel. Does it help? Not really, but it at least momentarily distracts me from the piles of snow building up on the sides of my driveway.
- Congratulations to Trevor Hoffman, who announced his retirement from baseball today. With 601 saves, the most ever, he is a no-brainer first ballot Hall of Famer. Apparently, there are some people questioning that because he hasn't had a lot of post-season success. Hey, not everyone's team can spend $200 million a year to get into the playoffs.
- Glad to see Rich Gedman getting a job as hitting coach with the Lowell Spinners. I have met Gedman a few times and he has always been a really nice guy. He's been managing the Worcester Tornadoes since they came into the league, and deserved a chance in Organized Baseball. Good luck, Geddy!
