In the aftermath of yesterday's tragedy in Tuscon, Arizona, it doesn't seem right to me to devote this space to some trivial baseball item. However, yesterday's tragedy does have a baseball connection. The 9-year-old who was killed, Christina Taylor Green, is the daughter of Dodgers scout John Green and granddaughter of Dallas Green, who was the World Series winning manager of the Phillies in 1980. Today's post is devoted to all those killed or injured yesterday.
I hope that anyone who has the public's ear, as a politician or through TV, radio, newspapers, the Internet, etc., takes a few minutes to listen to Keith Olbermann's words in the video below. Those who use violent rhetoric to grab ratings or incite their supporters must remember that while speech is free, it isn't without consequences.
